I'm a holistic hair sculptor and Curly Hair Coach located in Portland Oregon. I specialize in organic lived in looks with a little edge, working with curly and wavy hairs natural movement. I'm a craft hairdresser with a focus on details. Curlcraft came about after years of struggles with my own hair and many disappointing haircuts. One day I began cutting intuitively after taking into consideration my hairs natural movement and I haven't stopped. Freehand sculpting along a person’s own curl pattern gives everyone their own unique look and a cut truly suited for them that will be easy to manage and look good, even the next day! This has all led me to my trademarked Curlcraft™ hair cutting method. The feedback from clients has been so amazing that I decided I needed to share this information with my fellow stylists.

I've worked with curly and wavy hair textures for 30 years, which has led me down the path of teaching. Realizing that every day I am teaching clients EVERY step of dealing with their curls and waves in the salon, so why not teach others as well? That is how the Curlcrafting at Home eBook came about. I'll walk you through washing, rinsing, build volume or collapse volume, product application, diffusing, styling tips, curls vs waves, airy vs defined, brushing, finishing, sleeping and next day refresh!

"I finally got started on your Curlcraft course... and holy cow! It is wonderful. School has had me feeling locked in a box creatively, and it has been so validating and freeing to watch you do your thing and know that I can get creative and unique with my guests once outside of school. I’m only about half way through the course and I had to pause to let you know how much I am loving it!"

Thanks to the Curlcraft course, I can now confidently cut & style curly hair!

Thanks to the Curlcraft course, I can confidently work on curly hair. The course is well organized. The lessons are subsumed under topic modules, making the information easier to understand and remember. The text (with diagrams) is easy to read. The videos are enjoyable: I felt as though I were hanging out with Jo in her salon studio, and she has a very relaxed demeanor. Her focus is on helping us give our clients sculpted styles that are easy to care for, so the method involves a lot of manipulation of the hair and communication with the client (checking in if they like what their hair is doing, explaining why I choose to cut this curl but not that one, etc.) This attention to the client helps build trust and makes for a more pleasant experience all around. (My understanding is many curly clients have felt in their past that haircuts have been done to them rather than for them.) I think all stylists can benefit from this course.
